External characteristics

Male
Forewing length (mm): 45-52. Wingspan (mm): 71-79.
Forewings: Upperside whitish or creamish, veins broadly outlined in dark brown/black, large marginal spots at end of veins, more or less confluent, complete series of rounded submarginal spots, four dark crosslines in cell; underside similar Hindwings Slightly crenulate, without tail; upperside basal 2/3 whitish, broad black border with very inconspicuous pale submarginal spots; underside similar but more brownish and veins strongly outlined in dark brown.

Female
Forewing length (mm): 50-53. Wingspan (mm):81-84.
Similar to male.

Subspecies and variation

Varies mainly in the extension of the dark pattern; four subspecies are recognized.

No other really similar species.
