External characteristics

Forewings: The forewing upper side has a black coloured discocellular spot (Yata and Morishita, 1979).
Female
Subspecies and variation
Two or three subspecies are described; D'Abrera (D'Abrera, 1982) suspects that ssp. eperia and ssp. pallaminor are the same subspecies, the only difference between them is that ssp. pallaminor is smaller in size. Further, according to D'Abrera, ssp. foa is a infrasubspecific and/or seasonal form of ssp. eperia (D'Abrera, 1982). No subspecies (Yata and Morishita, 1979).
