MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics

Forewing length (mm): 14-26.

General morphology:
Antennae about half of length of forewing, apiculus stout, not tapered. Forewing relatively broad, hind margin longer than termen but shorter that costa, termen evenly rounded in upper half but almost straight in lower half. Hindwing inner margin as long as or longer than costa, termen crenulate with larger and shorter teeth.

Wing coloration:

Upper side: Upper side forewing very variable, brown in various shades, plain, with a variable number of hyaline spots or with numerous yellowish spots. Upper side hindwing brown with numerous yellowish spots, or plain with vaguely indicated darker spots. 

Underside: Underside forewing similar to upper side. Underside hindwing white with variable number of dark spots which may be conspicuous or partly concealed by whitish superscaling. Pronounced and very different wet season and dry season forms.

Secondary sexual characters:

 
Male hind tibiae with recumbent hair pencil and for coxa with very long, thin, black and conspicuous hair pencil. Female with dense anal tuft.
